At least I was able to watch cable tv
So, I've been slightly ill the last week. Mild fever, body ache, nose like a faucet. Ya know, real sexy stuff.
But over the weekend, my fever broke so I figured I was over the worst.
I was babysitting last night. Fell asleep around 9:30. Woke at midnight with a killer headache that started in my lower jaw and radiated up to my temples and down to my shoulders. I was wondering if maybe I had been clenching my jaw in my sleep.
I took a motrin IB I found in the kitchen cabinet and went to lay back down. The kids mom got home about 20 minutes later and I drove home, rubbing my head.
Got home safe, disrobed, settled on the couch.
Headache turned to killer chest pain and dry heaving. For a half hour I debating going to the hospital as the pain in my torso got worse.
"What if I have a heart attack"
I'm not one who takes pleasure in going to a doctor and anything potentially serious is shrugged off with a "I just need some sleep", but this time, I felt there was a possibility that if I did that, I wouldn't wake up.
I got back in my car and drove the couple miles to St. David's. I parked and, at a snail's pace, walked into the ER.
Explained my symptoms. After a quick taking of the vitals (101 fever, 140/90 BP [mine is normally 120-130 /70-80) they took me into a room.
Word to the wise. Yes, when you are in a bit of a panic and think your heart may stop on you any second and you decide to quickly get dressed to go see a medical professional at 2:30 am, please, remember to put on underwear because in addition to worrying about your impending doom, you'll also worry about flashing your less than desirable backside to some X-ray tech as he takes pictures of the inside of your chest.
So, yeah, Dr came in. He suspected that what had been cedar fever turned into a sinus infection along with a HARSH respiratory infection but ordered an EKG and chest x-rays to rule out anything else (due to the history of heart problems in my family, and, obviously my weight)
3 hours later, I was able to get dressed back in my street clothes and come home.
